ANCIENT OF DAYS

THE EXISTENTIAL POET

his blue suit is made from the blue sea
it uncreases itself at low tide
fills up at night with dark velvet folds
shines during the day
keeps secrets in its deep pockets

his poems are published on the moon
written with the footsteps of astronauts
translated into many languages
all of which are silent
and communicable only through mime

jackdaws flying in tandem
with their own shadows
and stones at the bottom of a river
gazing up at their own reflections
are examples of his work
