STRANGE PROGRESS

FROM SMALL BEGINNINGS
.
.
Christianity began as a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ.
.
.
When it went to Athens, it became a philosophy.
.
.
When it went to Rome, it became an organization.
.

.

When it went to Europe, it became a culture.
.

.
When it came to America, it became a business.

.
It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defence of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
.
Philippians 1:15-18

How true we are all guilty the Gospel needs to be seen in all these areas but instead we have turned the good news into a something that has become part of our culture or in the case of Christian book shops something to market at a profit .

It seems like one step forward and two steps back. Thank God tht Jesus has promised us that He established His church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. Despite all the obvious defects in denominational church life there will be an authentic group of 'called out' ones awaiting the arrival of Jesus a second time, coming for His bride !
